Sir John Eliot Gardiner is a British conductor known for his mastery of Baroque music. Born in England in the 1940s, Gardiner studied music at Cambridge University and later attended the Royal Academy of Music. He made his debut as a conductor in 1964 with the English Chamber Orchestra.
