George Jones, born September 12, 1931, in Saratoga, Texas, was a legendary American country music singer and songwriter. Known as 'The Possum,' Jones' career spanned over four decades, with a voice that could effortlessly convey the depth of emotion in his songs. He rose to fame in the 1950s, signing with Starday Records and releasing his debut single, 'No Money in This Deal,' in 1954.
