Farida al-Rihani, more commonly known as Fairouz, was born in 1934 in the Basta neighborhood of Beirut, Lebanon. Her early life was marked by the influence of her father, a music teacher who encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Fairouz began training in music and theatre at a young age and eventually made her stage debut in the 1950s. She gained popularity in the 1960s with the release of her album Andaloussiyat.
