Legendary Italian tenor known for his powerful voice and charitable work.

Luciano Pavarotti was an Italian opera singer who rose to international fame in the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Modena, Italy, in 1930, Pavarotti studied at the Scuola Civica di Musica in Modena and later at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Pavarotti's career was marked by his powerful and expressive voice, which was particularly suited to the roles of the great Italian tenors. He made his international debut in 1961 with the company of the Arena di Verona and quickly gained recognition for his performances in Verdi's operas, particularly in the roles of Rodolfo in La Bohème and Alfredo in La Traviata.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Pavarotti became increasingly involved in charity work, singing at numerous benefit concerts, including the famous Pavarotti & Friends concerts. He also toured with the Three Tenors, a trio of opera singers that included Plácido Domingo and José Carreras.

Pavarotti's later years were marked by a decline in his voice, but he continued to perform and record until his death in 2007. Throughout his career, he was recognized with numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
