New wave icon with dark, synth-heavy sound
Gary Numan rose to prominence in the 1980s with his unique blend of synth-pop and new wave music. Born in 1958 in North London, England, Numan's early life was marked by a deep interest in music and technology. He began playing guitar and keyboards at a young age and soon formed his first band, Tubeway Army. After releasing several albums with Tubeway Army, Numan embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut single 'That's Too Bad' in 1978.
