Prodigiously talented composer and musician, known for symphonies, operas, and chamber music

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria, to Leopold Mozart and Anna Maria Pertl Mozart. He was the sixth of seven children, and his younger sister, Nannerl, was also a talented musician. Mozart's father, a composer and musician himself, began teaching his son music at a very young age. By the age of five, Mozart could play the harpsichord and violin, and he began composing his own music at the age of five or six.

Leopold Mozart recognized his son's prodigious talent and began to take him on concert tours throughout Europe. During these tours, Wolfgang performed as a child prodigy, playing for royalty and nobility, and his fame spread throughout the continent. In 1769, he moved to Vienna, where he composed his first opera, Bastien und Bastienne, and his first symphony. Mozart went on to compose over 600 works, including symphonies, operas, concertos, and chamber music.

Mozart's music reflected his classical training, but he also incorporated elements of folk music and jazz into his compositions. His most famous works include The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, and Requiem Mass in D minor. Mozart died on December 5, 1791, at the age of 35, but his music continued to be celebrated and performed for centuries to come.
